Mobility in Munich made easy with the Bicycle Hiring System

Press Release

A network comprising 1,200 km (745 miles) of bike paths turns Munich into one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in Europe. In the downtown area, in the meadows and woods as well as along the water, cyclists can take well-marked routes, bike paths or traffic-calmed streets to reach the most beautiful spots and sights in town. Active enjoyment by bike, pedaling away and moving along under your own power, stopping whenever you feel like it to sample the special atmosphere of a fascinating quarter, sipping a “Radler” drink (beer mixed in equal parts with lemon soda) or a cup of latte macchiato on a sun deck – that is exploring Munich in a light-footed manner.

Now there is a new fun way to explore Munich by bicycle. The bike rental system
MVG Rad is the ideal complement to the U-Bahn (underground), S-Bahn (suburban railway), bus and tram.

Using MVG Rad is child’s play:

Whether for the last mile of your journey or simply for the love of exercise, a bicycle from MVG Rad means that, after registering once, you can travel as much as you wish and whenever and wherever you wish throughout Munich. The system consists of 1200 bicycles and currently has 45 stations. It is intended that by the end of 2016 there will be a total of 125 stations available to users.

The key to the bicycle is to the new MVG more app, which is available free of charge for Android and iOS.

Using MVG Rad is child’s play. The user may take a break during their journey or return the bicycle to a station within the return area. It is thus ideal for sightseeing trips in the city. Usage costs a mere 8 cents per minute. You can pay using a debit or credit card.
